If you are new to genealogy and sending e-mails and letters out requesting help with your research, particularly to people whom you do not know, you should include at the bottom of your e-mail what some would call an “e-mail signature”. That signature should be an alphabetized list of the surnames you are researching. For example:

Researching: Barron, Bigelow, Brigham, Bobbitt, Bourland, Cardwell, Flagg, Garfield, Mason, McGary, Rice, Vassall, Ward, White, etc., etc.

You never know where information resides, ready for your use.
